Research Proposals

Much of the debate about the role of MNCs in HRM and employment relations has been dominated by the issue of the ‘global-local’ tension in management practice; this tension is often seen as a universal one with which all MNCs must grapple. One problem with this assumption is that it plays down the range of options open to firms in organizing themselves across borders so in this research project we are going beyond this approach by addressing the variety of ways in which MNCs simultaneously integrate across national employment systems and differentiate between them.
