Diversity Scholarship Programme (DSP)
What will scholars receive?
Scholars admitted on to the programme will receive the following
- Financial assistance of £2,000 per year for each year of your course.
- Extra support and advice: a dedicated personal tutor and bespoke careers support.
- Mentoring from peers within the scholarship programme.
- Company visits to supporting organisations in the UK.
Who is eligible?
In order to be eligible to apply for a Diversity Scholarship Programme, you must:
- Be resident in the UK and eligible to pay fees at the home rate
- Have not previously studied for a first degree
- Be applying to www.gov.uk/studentfinance for assessment for financial support and be in receipt of a Government Tuition Fee Loan and Maintenance Loan for the 2019-20 academic year.
- Be a student who enrolled in 2018 on either the Accounting and Finance with Foundation Year degree course (UCAS code N4N4) or a Management with Foundation Year degree course (UCAS code N20A) who has successfully progressed in to direct entry.
- Be willing to sign an agreement to take full and active part in the Diversity Scholarship Programme.

What is the selection process?
How will I be notified of the outcome of my application?
You will be notified of the outcome of your application by email. The recipients of the MSP Scholarships will be required to sign an agreement, which will include the need to produce an annual progress report and to demonstrate satisfactory academic progress.
Terms and Conditions – Diversity Scholars’ Programme
- Only students progressing into the 1st Year from BSc Accounting and Finance (with Foundation Year) and BSc Management (with Foundation Year) in September 2018 are eligible to apply.
- Only complete applications using the relevant form will be considered.
- All applications must be supported by at least one academic reference from someone involved in the Foundation Year i.e. Personal Tutor, Course Director, or Module Leader. References must be emailed by the academic to Georgia.Stanley@wbs.ac.uk to arrive no later than 15:00 on Wednesday 18th September.
- The deadline for applications is 15:00 on Monday 16th September. Applications received after the closing date/time will not be considered. WBS will not be responsible for any applications that are not received for any reason, by the closing date, whether lost, delayed, corrupted or otherwise, and whether or not due to any technical difficulties or malfunctions.
- Successful applications will be chosen by a panel. The decision of the panel is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
- When awarding the scholarships the panel will take the following into consideration: application information, student statement, academic reference, engagement with academic studies and work placement during the Foundation Year 2018/19, and final results from the Foundation Year 2018/19.
- Each scholarship awarded is to the amount of £2,000 per year for the entirety of the student’s studies excluding any time-out for an intercalated year work placement or study abroad, Temporary Withdrawal or Resit without Residence. Funding would therefore typically be for 3 years.
- Students in receipt of the award are expected to participate in a number of activities designed to develop their social capital, personal skills, and employability. Failure to attend compulsory activities may result in the scholarship being cancelled.
- WBS reserves the right to change or withdraw the Diversity Scholars’ Programme at any time.
