Year Away: Contact Details Form

We know from feedback that one of the most valuable resources for students preparing for a year away is hearing directly from those who have experienced or are currently undertaking a year away. Connecting with peers in the same destination can also be incredibly helpful as you settle in and explore your new surroundings.

By completing this form, you agree to share your email address and placement destination details with the current Year 1 and incoming WBS cohorts. Your peer-to-peer guidance will be invaluable for students as they research and prepare for their own year away – thank you!

We also aim to connect you with other students in the same destination. Please indicate in the form below if you wish to be connected with your peers who will be based in the same location as you for your Year Away activity.

(General Data Protection Regulation 2016/ Data Protection Act 2018) The University of Warwick will use my personal data for the purpose of sharing internally with Year 1 and Year 2 WBS students considering taking a Year Away as part of their degree and, where consent has been given, shared with other Year 3 WBS students also undertaking a Year Away in the same academic year. 1. The University of Warwick will act as a ‘data controller’ and it will process my personal data for the above purpose: • Given Name • Course • Academic Year of Exchange • Year Away Destination 2. The University will store my contact details on its database in case the University needs to contact me for the above mentioned purpose. 3. The University processes my personal data with my consent for the promotion of first-hand experience of a Year Abroad or Placement Year on a WBS degree, and to further the legitimate interests of University of Warwick students. 4. Your personal data from this form will be kept securely by the University of Warwick and will be retained for purpose of year out internal promotion only. Your personal data will not be transferred outside of the EEA. Your data will be retained for 3 years from date of submission. 5. Your personal data will not be shared or disclosed to any third parties external to the University of Warwick without prior consent. 6. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by emailing the WBS Undergraduate Office on undergraduate@wbs.ac.uk. 7. The University will hold your personal data securely and keep it confidential at all times. The legislation gives you the right to access information held about you.
