Expert advisory group to help drive progress towards more good jobs in the post-pandemic UK

A new group of expert economic and social sciences researchers has come together to provide independent, evidence-based advice to policymakers on work and employment as the UK emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic. Launched this morning (10 August 2021), the Renewing Work Advisory Group of Experts (ReWAGE) will be co-chaired by Professor Chris Warhurst of the University of Warwick’s Institute for Employment Research and Professor Irena Grugulis, Chair of Work and Skills at Leeds University Business School.


National Teaching Fellows awarded to two Warwick Academics

Dr Letizia Gramaglia (WIHEA) and Dr Meleisa Ono-George (History), have been awarded new National Teaching Fellows in 2021.
National Teaching Fellowships are the most prestigious awards for excellence in higher education teaching, and impact on student outcomes. 2021 sees the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) surpass 1,000 awardees in its 21-year history, 55 academics have been awarded the fellowship, including Dr Ono-George and Dr Gramaglia.

RECOVERY-RS trial finds continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) reduces need for invasive ventilation in hospitalised COVID-19 patients

The Respiratory Strategies in COVID-19; CPAP, High-flow, and Standard Care (RECOVERY-RS) trial, co-led by the University of Warwick, has demonstrated that treating hospitalised COVID-19 patients who have acute respiratory failure with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) reduces the need for invasive mechanical ventilation.

A protein that causes a cell’s skeleton to bend, allowing it to twist the cell into different shapes, could be key to how cells divide according to University of Warwick scientists.

Minerva Business Angels makes its 100th investment

Minerva Business Angels, part of the University of Warwick Science Park, has made its 100th investment. Minerva works with scale-ups, start-up businesses and spin-out companies. The landmark investment has been made in support of Skyfarer, a drone logistics operator which is conducting ground-breaking trials to deliver medical supplies between hospitals in the West Midlands this summer.


£2.6m Turing award will help over 1000 Warwick students study and work abroad

The UK Government has announced today (4 August 2021) that the University of Warwick will be awarded £2.6 million for international student mobility, as part of the inaugural Turing Scheme.
