New scholarship support for Islamic Education at the University of Warwick

A gift from the COSARAF Charitable Foundation will support a Masters scholarship for Islamic Education in the Centre for Education Studies at the University of Warwick as part of a major programme of support launched today. The Sheikh Family Scholarship will be open to Muslim home students who are facing financial hardship. Priority will go to those students for whom this will make most difference and who have a clear commitment to giving back to society and their communities.

Structures that are tense teach us design sense – says engineering book by Professor Wanda Lewis

The second edition of the book “Tension Structures: Form and Behaviour” by Professor Wanda Lewis of the School of Engineering at the University of Warwick, explores design and mathematical modelling issues of non-conventional structures ranging from festival tents and venues (e.g. the O2 Arena, Umbrella Piazza in Madinah) to suspension bridge cables.

Double victory for WMG academy boat teams

Students at WMG Academy Coventry are celebrating a double victory after BOTH its teams won first place in a national engineering competition.

The students, all aged 14 to 19, took the top titles in their age categories in the Royal Navy Engineering Challenge. The contest invites students to design and build a model vessel capable of rescuing a helicopter in an emergency.

Warm welcome for Minerva Birmingham – new regional angel investment network launched

West Midlands business leaders, entrepreneurs and investors have welcomed the launch of a new angel investment network for the region. Minerva Birmingham, a new collaboration between Aston University, University of Birmingham and Minerva Business Angels, part of the University of Warwick Science Park, held its inaugural pitching event at Aston University on 9 April.
