New research highlights challenges veterans face in becoming self-employed

A new report, ‘Self-employment and the Armed Forces Community’, has revealed the barriers ex-Service personnel face in becoming self-employed after leaving the Armed Forces. The research was conducted by The Institute for Employment Research at the University of Warwick, supported by defence technology company QinetiQ and X-Forces Enterprise (XFE) – which supports entrepreneurship in the military community – and funded by Forces in Mind Trust.

2018 Warwick Prize for Women in Translation longlist announced

15 titles have been longlisted for the second annual award of the Warwick Prize for Women in Translation.

 

The £1000 prize was established by the University of Warwick in 2017 to address the gender imbalance in translated literature and to increase the number of international women’s voices accessible by a British and Irish readership.

Inadequate evidence to guide caffeine intake for breastfeeding mothers, review finds

A systematic review of the literature into the effects of caffeine on breastfed infants has concluded that there is no robust evidence for positive or negative effects of maternal caffeine consumption during breastfeeding on a breastfed child - according to Dr Yen-Fu Chen and graduate-entry medical student Aimee McCreedy of the Warwick Medical School.
