University of Warwick named UKCISA International Institution of the Year
Warwick has been awarded the prestigious Institution of the Year Award at the UKCISA #WeAreInternational Awards 2025, where the finalists and winners were selected from over 420 nominations from 120 institutions.
Warwick supports 13,500 international students from more than 145 countries and was commended for its exceptional commitment to enhancing the global student experience. In 2024–25, the University also awarded nearly £1 million in scholarships to students representing 33 nationalities.
Professor Stuart Croft, Vice-Chancellor and President, University of Warwick, said:
“This award is a testament to the hard work of our Warwick community. It showcases our dedication to student inclusion, world-class education and research.
“We are committed to providing the very best educational experience for our students that equips them with the skills and experience to thrive internationally, be highly employable and make a positive contribution to society.
“Warwick will continue leading the way and shaping the future on a global stage and it is fantastic to be recognised with this award as we celebrate our 60th anniversary this year.”
Professor Michael Scott, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International), University of Warwick said:
“To be recognised as Institution of the Year for international student inclusion reflects our commitment to build an inclusive global campus community, reflecting our values as a University. It comes as our month-long One World Warwick celebration is underway to mark the impact of our international community, impact, connections and opportunities.
“Our global, student-centred programme reinforces our commitment to internationalisation, innovation and inclusion, with our diverse global community of students, staff and alumni at its heart.”
Warwick’s inclusive campus environment is underpinned by culturally responsive wellbeing support, enhanced pre-arrival guidance, intercultural training, a programme of global celebration events, international educational opportunities and strong global partnerships. The University recently established the International Student Experience Advisory Board – co-chaired by an international student – to deepen collaboration across campus and ensure international students’ voices shape decision-making.
UKCISA praised the emphasis on global engagement and student experience from the Warwick’s 60th anniversary international programme. They also highlighted the associated One World Warwick campaign, which last year reached more than 5,500 participants across 23 countries. This year, the One World Warwick initiative celebrates 60 years of global engagement, offering a platform for students to share their heritage and talents with the wider community.
Anne Marie Graham, Chief Executive, UKCISA said: “The #WeAreInternational Award winners showcase the people and partnerships that make the UK a leader in international education. At a time when policy changes continue to challenge the sector, it’s heartening to see so many creative and empathetic approaches to deliver the best possible experience for international students in the UK.”
