Warwick climbs 9 places in latest university global ranking
Published today (Wednesday 30th September), the University of Warwick, having climbed 9 places, now ranks 113th from nearly 2,300 institutions featured in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027.
As well as rising in the global standings, Warwick rose one place in the national rankings to 13th, improved its overall score, and improved its ranking in key pillars including ‘Teaching’, ‘Research Quality’, and ‘Industry’.
Welcoming the rise in the rankings, Professor Stuart Croft, Vice-Chancellor and President, University of Warwick, said: “This rise of nine places in the THE World University Rankings reflects the talent, commitment and hard work of our entire Warwick community, and the global impact of our research and education.
“The momentum we are seeing across global, European, and national rankings demonstrates Warwick’s strength and ambition. We are committed to providing an exceptional education that equips our students with the critical thinking and employability skills to realise their ambitions and make a positive impact in the world.”
As part of Times Higher Education’s subject rankings, Warwick has four subject groupings ranked in the global top 100: ‘Arts and Humanities’ (72nd), ‘Business and Economics’ (35th), ‘Law’ (87th), and Psychology (90th).

The rise to 113th continues a trend of outstanding performances in international and national rankings, and highlights Warwick’s sustained focus on delivering exceptional teaching, groundbreaking research, and global breakthroughs. This includes climbing 6 places to 68th in the QS World University Rankings, rising 1 place to 7th nationally and being named the number one university in the Midlands by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide, and being recommended by 9-in-10 Warwick students in the National Student Survey.
Describing Warwick, Times Higher Education writes: “Academically, the university is known also for its commitment to research. Warwick maintains around 30 academic departments, organised into four faculties: Arts, Medicine, Science and Social Science. In support of this, the university has an extensive library boasting more than 13 kilometers’ worth of manuscripts.
“In terms of recreation, Warwick has a number of different student societies providing for a wide range of interests. In addition, the university’s student union is one of the largest in the UK. Many different events are held on campus, such as music concerts as well as visits from guest speakers.”
