University of Warwick rises in the rankings, again
The University has climbed one place to seventh overall in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027.
Published today (Friday 18th September), the University of Warwick is celebrating a triple success in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027:
- Risen one place in the overall rankings to 7th
- Named ‘Runner-up University of the Year for Graduate Employment 2027’
- Highest ranked university in the Midlands
The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027 ranks 130 universities across a range of measures that include student satisfaction, student experience, graduate employment prospects, and continuation rates.
Professor Stuart Croft, Vice-Chancellor and President, University of Warwick, said: “To achieve year-on-year success in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide reflects the world-leading research and transformative teaching delivered by everyone in the Warwick community.
“As we prepare to welcome a new cohort of talented students, these results show that Warwick is an outstanding university. We are recognised for preparing young people for their next step – providing the critical thinking that students deserve, the skills that employers want, and the talent that the country needs.”
In the subject league tables, 21 subject areas were ranked in the top 10 in their respective fields – up one from last year – highlighting the breadth and depth of leading tuition available at Warwick.
Professor Michael Scott, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) and Institutional Lead for Rankings, University of Warwick, said: “These results are a clear indication that Warwick is a regional and national leader for higher education. From the range of subjects ranked in the top 10, to the steady improvement in our headline position, to our graduate employment success, we are ambitious for ourselves and the students we are fortunate to teach.
“It is fantastic to see Warwick’s upward momentum across a range of national and international league tables. I look forward to working with partners across the University and the globe to improve even further over the next academic year.”
The rise to 7th place overall continues Warwick’s strong performance in national and international league tables and reflects the University’s sustained focus on delivering exceptional teaching, student support, and graduate outcomes. This includes climbing 6 places to 68th in the QS World University Rankings, being recommended by 9-in-10 Warwick students in the National Student Survey, and rising 1 place to 5th nationally and being named the number one university in the Midlands by the Daily Mail University Guide.
Describing Warwick, The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027, said: Founded in 1965 and the youngest member of the Russell Group, Warwick is a high-achiever across all metrics. It averages 168 Ucas points among its undergraduate entrants (equivalent to three A*s at A-level), placed sixth in the UK for graduate prospects, and is up one place to rank seventh on the main list — maintaining its unbroken record in the top ten.

The Times and The Sunday Times have produced university guides since 1993 and 1998 respectively. Since 2013, they have published a combined Good University Guide to provide the most comprehensive guide to higher education in Britain in print and digital formats across The Times, The Sunday Times and thetimes.com.
The list is based on an analysis of student satisfaction with teaching quality and their student experience, entry standards, research quality, sustainability, and graduate prospects. Since 2018 the guide also includes social inclusion rankings for universities in England and Wales, with a separate table for Scottish rankings. The tables are based on key measures to reflect the diversity of their intake and subsequent success when attending university.
