Associate Professor in Trauma and Orthopaedics, Peter Wall, on 'Robot-led surgery' report
"Robotic technology has the potential to ensure reproducible and precise surgical techniques not previously possible; which may improve outcomes for patients. The Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS England) guide is a welcome document which will help ensure new and exciting robotic technologies are introduced in a safe and controlled way and subject to robust research examining their clinical and cost-effectiveness. The University of Warwick is at the forefront of this and is currently recruiting patients to two of the world's largest trials of robot-assisted orthopaedic surgery. These high-profile NIHR-funded trials examine the clinical effectiveness of robotic-assisted hip and knee replacement (RACER-Hip and RACER-Knee - https://twitter.com/RACERTrials)."
