Scientists edit genes in human embryos to prevent inherited diseases - Expert comment

"The study published in Nature yesterday is a real step forward for the possibility of repairing genetic diseases in human embryos.

"For families with genetic disease perhaps a new hope is a little closer.

"For scientists and clinicians the study also informs us that embryos and stem cells are likely very different in the way they can repair DNA – meaning that the methods this group have employed lead to fewer mistakes in the embryos produced.”
