Sunday Times Rich List cites record rise in UK billionaires
The Sunday Times Rich List calculates that the UK now has 177 billionairesLink opens in a new window, a record number.

"At a time when many households are struggling, it is striking to see how much wealth is increasing at the top. While this wealth is valuable to its owners, until assets are sold they won't be taxed. The voluntary nature of some taxes for the very wealthiest is precisely why, if we want to raise more tax revenue from the super-rich, an annual wealth tax is the only serious option."
