LITERATURE, TRAVEL, TRANSLATION - AN OVERVIEWAn introduction to the Literature, Travel, Translation eventThis symposium was organised to celebrate the many aspects of Professor Susan Bassnett's academic life and brought together many people with whom she has worked in the course of her career.
She has published over 20 books on subjects that also include contemporary theatre, feminist thought, Shakespeare, and South American woman writers. She is also a published poet and an academic journalist. As her many PhD students will attest, she is a committed and inspiring teacher and supervisor. Susan began her academic career in Italy and moved via the USA to Warwick, where she also served with distinction as the University’s first female Pro Vice-Chancellor and as a member of Council. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a Council Member of the Academia Europaea.
