The Asian Financial Crisis made many countries in the region begin to question how much their interests really coincided with those of the US, and the rest of the developed world. In this talk, Dr Ferdinand explores the issues that subsequently affected East Asia’s regional identity, and discusses the role of the IMF, the Chang Mai Initiative and the importance of Foreign Exchange Reserves.
