The University of Warwick has announced the recipients of its honorary degrees for the summer 2024 graduation ceremonies.

These distinguished individuals have made significant contributions to their respective fields and communities across science and the arts, and will be honoured for their exceptional achievements during graduation ceremonies in July.

The Honorary Graduates for July 2024 are:



Major General Tim Hodgetts CBE

Major General Tim Hodgetts will receive an Honorary Doctor of Science for his pioneering work in emergency and disaster medicine, which has served communities at all levels.

As the Surgeon General for the UK Armed Forces and Deputy Lieutenant of the West Midlands, Tim has made significant contributions to his field.

Vita Sanderson
Vita Sanderson will be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science in recognition of her humanitarian engineering efforts and commitment to improving school and health facilities.

An award-winning structural engineer, Vita has applied her expertise to humanitarian projects worldwide.

Vanessa Vallely OBE

Vanessa Vallely will receive an Honorary Doctor of Science for her trailblazing work in gender parity within Financial Services and for establishing ‘WeAreTheCity’, a successful network that provides opportunities and upskilling for women to excel in their careers.

Dr. Phil O'Donovan

Dr. Phil O'Donovan, a Warwick alumnus, will be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science for his contributions as an engineer and entrepreneur.

Phil has significantly impacted engineering innovation through mentoring, investment, and development across the UK.

Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin

Warwick alumnus Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin will receive an Honorary Doctor of Science for his role in leading reforms in Egypt and addressing climate change challenges.

Karamjit Singh

Warwick alumnus Karamjit Singh will be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws for his achievements in the medical field, both within the NHS in the UK and in medical camps in India.

Karamjit has also served as a former member of the University Council.

Professor Tim Lang

Professor Tim Lang will receive an Honorary Doctor of Science for his influential work on food policy in the UK and worldwide.

Known as ‘the man who invented food miles’, Tim is an internationally renowned expert in his field.

Professor Stéphane Udry

Professor Stéphane Udry will be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science in recognition of his pioneering research in the field of exoplanets.



The CUBO award winning degree ceremonies will take place from Monday 15 July 2024 - Friday 26 July 2024 with hundreds of students graduating.
