University of Warwick welcomes schools for FABFest

The University of Warwick’s Faculty of Arts building played host to five schools from across Coventry yesterday.

The event formed part of ‘FABFest’, a widening participation day organised by the University’s Faculty of Arts. From Chinese calligraphy to Roman cookery and Medieval recipes, school aged children were provided with the opportunity to learn new skills while getting a taste of university life for a day.

Commenting on the festival, Vice-Provost and Chair of the Faculty of Arts, Rachel Moseley, said: “It’s always wonderful to work closely with local schools in Coventry and showcase what a university education can be like. Some of the children that attended FABFest may go on to be one of the first in their families to gain a higher education, so it’s important to show them that it is an achievable and welcoming experience.

“At the University of Warwick, we have a deep commitment to the arts and humanities– we've invested over £100m in the FAB and improving our world class arts centre. It’s important to us that we engage with local schools to show young people what an education in the arts can be like. We want to encourage curiosity and aspiration, and it was a pleasure to show them what an education at Warwick University can be like.”
