The University of Warwick Launches 60th Anniversary Programme with Celebration in the Piazza
The University of Warwick has officially kicked off its 60th-anniversary celebrations with a vibrant launch event held on central campus.
The event brought together students, staff, and alumni, to commemorate six decades of academic excellence, innovation, and community impact.
Professor Stuart Croft, Vice-Chancellor and President said, “At The University of Warwick, we are proud of our rich heritage as a world-class leader in education, research and innovation, locally, nationally and internationally. Our anniversary is an opportunity to take stock of the achievements of the past six decades, it is also a chance to renew our commitment to a further 60 years and more of innovation and collaboration.
Chancellor Bience Gawanas said, “60 years is such a big milestone and I’m really honoured that I’ve become Chancellor of the University during it’s 60th anniversary year. The University has spread knowledge across the world and I hope it can continue to do that for many more years to come. Happy anniversary to the Warwick family!”
SU President Enaya Nihal said, “"I'm really glad we were able to launch the 60th anniversary of the University and the SU with our Chancellor, knowing her legacy at the Union. I've met some of the most incredible people at Warwick through societies, clubs, and campaigns, and it was lovely to see so many celebrate our anniversary!"
Attendees enjoyed a spectacular 60th-anniversary cake and 600 cupcakes. The event was enhanced by the festive surroundings of the nearby food market and the buzz of winter graduation ceremonies taking place on campus.
The 60th-anniversary programme will feature a wide range of activities and events throughout the year, showcasing the university’s legacy and its vision for the future.
