University Of Warwick wins Prestigious National Best Science Research Group Award

Originally published 22 November 2002

A group of Chemistry researchers at the university of Warwick have just won the prestigious Laboratory News award best Science Research Group in the UK.

Professor Patrick Unwin and Dr Julie Macpherson collected the award at the Dorchester hotel in London on Thursday 14 November on behalf of the University of Warwick’s Electrochemistry and Interfaces Group.

The group’s research focuses on how liquids interact with the surfaces (or interfaces) of solids, gases and other liquids. Some of their recent work has examined electrically insulating interfaces, and even how and why dental enamel decays.

In selecting the Warwick group for the award, "the judges were impressed by the way the team functioned as a cohesive group with credit being equally shared, and decided that a group which had several major breakthroughs just edged ahead of the field".
