Queen’s Birthday Honours for Warwick community members

University of WarwickTwo members of the Warwick community have been announced as recipients in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Professor Sudhesh Kumar, Dean of the Warwick Medical School and Director of the Institute of Digital Healthcare, has been awarded an OBE and Matthew Scott, Senior Warden in Residential Life, has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM).

Commenting on his award Matthew said:

“I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without the help/assistance of my colleagues in the Residential Life Team, Warwick Accommodation and Wellbeing Support Services.

"Although I appear to have been singled out for this award but, I see it as a reflection of all the help, patience and care my colleagues have shown of the (many) years I have been at the University.”

Professor Kumar is a clinical endocrinologist by background with 22 years’ experience as a Consultant Physician in the NHS whose academic career has seen him publish 240 papers and 6 books on a range of research areas including adipocyte biology, whole body metabolism.

Commenting on his being awarded an OBE Professor Kumar said:

"I feel lucky and privileged to work in organisations where it is a joy to help many amazing colleagues do amazing work every day."
