The Guardian newspaper has today, Thursday 1^st May 2008, ranked the University of Warwick as one of the top 5 universities in the UK and the top ranked university in the Midlands.  This follows just one week after the Independent newspaper also ranked Warwick as the top Midlands university and in the top 5 in the UK overall. The Guardian ranked the Midlands universities in the top 50 of its table as follows:

10 Loughborough

15 Leicester

19 Joint  - Nottingham

19  Joint - Aston

31 Birmingham

42 Nottingham Trent
