University of Warwick appoints Chris Hunt as new Commercial Director
Chris Hunt has been appointed as Commercial Director at the University of Warwick, and will start his new role in September 2022.
A Warwick graduate, Chris has worked in commercial roles for over 20 years. He joins Warwick from the National Trust where he was Commercial Director.
This senior role will include responsibilities for the Warwick Employment Group, Warwick Conferences, Warwick Retail, Warwick Arts Centre and Warwick Sport.
Chris will lead the team of 500 staff in Campus and Commercial Services, focusing on creating positive experiences for internal and external visitors, and generating surplus for the University to fund teaching, research and facilities.
Speaking about his appointment, Chris Hunt said: “My future accountabilities at the University of Warwick are reflected in my current portfolio at the National Trust. I’m passionate about delivering public benefit in an environmentally sustainable way.
“As a Warwick alumnus, I know what a great place it is for students. I’m now looking forward to joining the Warwick community as a member of the Executive Board. I’m excited to be part of a well-established team and to develop the future of the University’s commercial activities.
“On a personal note, I recently returned to my hometown of Nottingham to be closer to family and friends. I’m a keen sportsman, theatre lover, and I’m always trying to improve my struggling chess game!”
Professor Stuart Croft, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Warwick commented: “I’m very pleased to welcome Chris back to Warwick, now as a colleague and a member of the University Executive Board. Bringing experience from both the corporate and not-for-profit sectors, his input will be central in leading and building on the success of the commercial activities which make a key contribution to what we are able to achieve at Warwick.”
