This course will be delivered face-to-face in our image analysis suite where the participants will work directly on real data from our metrology CT Scanners using the VG Studio MAX software.

By the end of the course you will know:

• How to use VG Studio MAX for your image analysis workflow
• Understand what surface determinations are and how to use them
• Voxel scaling process to increase dimensional accuracy
• Visualisation capabilities for reporting

By the end of the course you will be able to:

• Use registration tools for viewing image data and setting up GD&T
• Use the surface determination tools for single and multi-material segmentation
• Create geometries to match a GD&T and evaluate dimensional measurements
• Perform a CAD comparison and porosity analysis on a manufactured part

This course is aimed at users of X-ray CT data that want to learn how to visualise and analyse their volumetric data in a measurement context. Attendees should have a general idea on the X-ray CT process and the output being a grey-scale image.

Knowledge on how to acquire CT images or image analysis workflows are not assumed. An understanding of GD&T is useful, but some pre course information will be distributed to understand the basics.

We welcome both academic and industrial participants.

Dr Warnett is an Associate Professor in X-ray Imaging at WMG, University of Warwick, with over a decade of experience in exploiting the technique to solve industrial problems from new product development to materials engineering. He has influenced policy in the area with co-authorship of the EPSRC Tomography Roadmap, leading to the recommendation for "higher speed/throughput" CT and a Strategic Equipment EPSRC grant.

Exploiting iterative reconstruction for higher throughput imaging has become a core focus of Dr Warnett's research, but in a repeatable way, evaluating measurement uncertainty and correlating dimensional accuracy with limited data. Jay is a Co-Investigator for the National Research Facility for X-ray Computed Tomography, of which Warwick is the Metrology spoke.

Dr Warnett is an integral part of the imaging community as Secretary to the international conference ToScA and part of the committee for the dimensional XCT conference. He is a part of national and international working groups for developing the new ISO 10360 standard for X-ray Computed Tomography to standardise processes and results. Alongside, Dr Warnett has helped demonstrate the technique to non-engineering groups that have enhanced their applications, such as West Midlands Police and Oxford Natural History Museum.
