XPS RTP Campus Tour 2025
Campus Tour 2025
As part of the future strategy of the Photoemission RTP begins to take shape, RTP Manager Marc Walker is embarking on a tour of campus to engage as many users as possible.
Come and find out about the wonderful world of XPS and the future plans for the RTP in his interactive "73 Shades of XPS" seminar!
"73 Shades of XPS - An Adventure into the Unknown"
Marc Walker, Photoemission RTP Manager
During my career I have analysed 73 different elements by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, covering a wide variety of materials systems across the full spectrum of the physical sciences, from sandwich bags and battery electrodes to biocatalysts and photovoltaics. Over 200 papers have been published from what is now the Photoemission Research Technology Platform (RTP) since its inception in 2012.
As the RTP enters a phase of instrument renewal, I am keen to engage with the diverse Warwick user base to gain feedback and support for upcoming equipment bids, with the future vision for the RTP outlined in this presentation.
In addition to some background on the Photoemission RTP and the techniques available therein, in this seminar you get to choose which of those 73 elements you want me to talk about! Your choices will be collected and then a random draw will dictate the elements covered. Along the way we'll cover some interesting samples, "learning opportunities" and surface analysis tips and tricks. There may even be some detours into ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy and low energy ion scattering if the correct elements are selected!
