Peter Makeham

Peter Makeham was latterly Director-General for Home Office Performance and Reform. He was responsible for change in the Home Office, with the immediate objective of ensuring that the milestones and activities in the Reform Action Plan were delivered - and the longer term aim of improving how the Department works. He also led on strategy development and performance management/improvement, as well as improving how programme and project management worked in the Department.

Previously he was the Director-General for Strategy and Reform in the Department for Education and Skills. His role was to lead strategy development across the Department - both policy development with responsibility for the strategy unit and central analysts, and internal change. He also managed the Capability review for the Department, working with PMDU. He has also worked in the Department of Employment, DTI, the Treasury, Cabinet Office and Unilever.
