In The Mountains by Olga Davenport
|
South African-born Olga Davenport originally studied acting and dancing, later performing in ballet with Anton Dolin and in productions of Shakespeare at Stratford on Avon. In 1956 she turned to art, attending Chelsea Polytechnic and the Royal College of Art, before going to St Ives to study with Peter Lanyon. 'In the Mountains', which was exhibited at the Picadilly Gallery in London, reduces a conventional landscape to semi-abstract elements represented in clearly defined bands of colour.
