Black/Green/White by Peter Sedgley
|
Sedgley studied architecture at the School of Building in London before moving on to painting in the 1960s. Much of his work of this period was interested in optical effects and was influenced by artists such as Victor Vasarely and Bridget Riley.
In this example, and its companion piece Yellow/White, Sedgley experimented with the medium glazed ceramic. The University Collection also contains a number of screenprints by Sedgley which have similarities with these two works.
