Roberto Gonzalez-Fernandez

Born in Monforte de Lemos, Spain in 1948.

Fernandez studied Fine Arts at Escuela de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, Madrid from 1969 to 1974.
His practice includes photography and printmaking as well as painting. The male body has been a prominent feature of his painting, depicted in a highly realistic style, often exploring his own life and experiences and conveying powerful impressions of feeling and emotion. Fernandez often makes references to art historical sources in the encounters and people he portrays.

In 1977 he moved to Edinburgh and still alternates between there and Madrid, exhibiting regularly in both capitals as well as numerous other venues throughout Europe and America. His work is ╠┤included in many public and private collections including the National Library in Madrid; the Museum of Fine Arts, Coru├▒a; the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Kelvingrove Art Gallery, Glasgow; the Edinburgh Arts Centre; Dundee Art Gallery; the Scottish Arts Council Collection; the Forbes Collection, New York and the AT&T Collection, New York.
