On The Move
The largest painting in the collection is on the move. The painting Albion by Albert Irvin is on its way to an exhibition at The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery at the University of Leeds. The painting will star in the exhibition The Expressive Mark, a celebration of the work of British artists in the second half of the 20th Century. The exhibition runs from the 17th November 2021 to the 2nd April 2022, for more information you can visit the gallery website. If you can't make it to the exhibition you will still be able to enjoy Albion when it returns to us at the end of the exhibition. It will be returned to it's usual home on the Westwood campus. You can read more about the painting Albion on its own dedicated webpage Albion by Albert Irvin.
Faith in the Miraculous
The installation of a brand new artwork commission has begun, by the entrance to the Faculty of Arts Building. Artist/ceramicist Matthew Raw with the use of glazes, colour and hand cutting has transformed 105 of the ceramic tiles used on the exterior of the building. He has created a wall of vibrant colour, which will be installed over the next few days and will stand in contrast to the terracotta of the tiles used on the rest of the building.
