Making Accessible Course Content with Anthology Ally

Creating inclusive learning environments starts with accessible content. Accessibility isn’t just a technical requirement; it’s a core principle of inclusive teaching. By ensuring course materials are usable by everyone, including those with disabilities or different learning preferences, we help all students benefit fully from their learning experience.

Anthology Ally (formerly Blackboard Ally) is integrated into Moodle and empowers course leaders to improve the accessibility of their materials with ease.

What Ally Offers

  • Accessibility scores – visible only to instructors, showing how accessible your files are.
  • Step-by-step feedback – clear guidance to simply help you improve files with lower scores.
  • Alternative formats for students – including audio (MP3), ePub, PDF, and electronic braille, available via the Ally download icon.

Students benefit immediately from alternative formats, even while improvements are in progress. No extra setup is needed - just upload your content to Moodle and let Ally do the rest.

Why it matters

Accessible content supports diverse learning needs and ensures that all students can engage fully with your course materials.
