What’s New in Padlet?
New Tools to Support Digital Learning
Padlet continues to develop its online collaborative platform, introducing new features designed to support interactive, creative, and accessible learning and teaching. Below is a summary of recent Padlet updates that may be of interest to staff using the tool for teaching or professional learning.
Trim and Crop Media
Users can now trim and crop images and videos directly within Padlet. This allows for cleaner uploads and more focused media content without the need for external editing tools.
Table Format with Task Check Off
Padlet’s table format now includes checkoff functionality, making it easier to organise content, track progress, and manage collaborative projects or task-based activities.
Emoji Board for Quick Check-ins
The Emoji Board provides a simple, visual way to gather quick feedback or check in with students or colleagues. This format can be useful for reflective activities, mood check-ins, or informal engagement.
Photo Albums
One of Padlet’s most requested features, photo albums allow users to upload and organise images within a single board. Albums can also include AI generated images, supporting visual storytelling, portfolios, and project work.
Screen Recorder and Whiteboard
Padlet now includes a built-in screen recorder with a whiteboard annotation tool. Users can record explanations, annotate visually, and trim recordings. This feature can support demonstrations, worked examples, and reflective learning activities.
Certifications and Professional Development Courses
Padlet offers short, self-paced professional development courses (typically 5–10 minutes per module) that introduce platform features, settings, and creative teaching approaches. Completing a course provides a certificate of participation.
Padlet AI Tools
New AI tools and “recipes” are available to support content creation and idea generation within Padlet. These features are designed to assist with planning and engagement while remaining optional and fully editable.
Translate Padlets
Prompt based translation allows entire Padlets to be translated into other languages, supporting multilingual learners and more accessible content sharing.
Sandbox Templates
When creating a new Padlet Sandbox, users can now choose from a range of ready‑made templates, which can be customised for different learning activities or collaboration scenarios.
These updates have enhanced Padlet’s use as a flexible space for collaboration, reflection, and creative learning design.
For those interested in exploring these features in more detail, Padlet is hosting an online webinar on Wednesday 4 February 2026, demonstrating the latest updates across Padlet Boards, Sandboxes, and AI tools. You can also access past session recordings covering a host of updates and features.
