What is Padlet?

Padlet is best described as an online noticeboard or digital canvas.

It is typically used to facilitate collaborative activities with your classmates, however it can also support independent study. You can contribute to padlets created by others, or create your own.

Here is an outline of some key features of Padlet:

  • Post a range of media, e.g. videos, images, documents, text, and links
  • Contribute anonymously to most padlets
  • Comment on others' posts
  • React to others' posts, e.g. like, vote
  • Share your padlets with others
  • Customise the appearance of your own padlets
  • Create your own padlets from a variety of formats, depending on the nature of the task or activity

Ways to use Padlet

A versatile platform

If your tutor sets an activity in Padlet, they should provide clear instructions of what they expect you to do. Please ask them if you're not sure.

Padlet might be used:

  • As a content bank
  • For group activities
  • For mapping ideas
  • For anonymous comments/feedback
  • For fun!

Looking for inspiration?

Students are welcome to create their own padlets, both for individual use and to share with others.

If you're not sure where to start, Padlet has over 100 pre-made gallery templates suiting a wide variety of use cases.

You can also take a look at the Padlet gallery for examples of padlets created by the global community. All examples can be used for inspiration and can be remade as templates.
