No Scheduled Assessments
Issue: After logging into QMP, no available exams are listed, despite having a scheduled assessment.

Possible Causes:
- Exam availability settings– Some exams may only appear at a specific date and time.
-
Incorrect login details– Entering the wrong username or password may prevent access to your scheduled exams.
- Enrollment or access issues– Your account may not be correctly registered for the exam.
Solution:
-
Verify your login credentials and ensure you are using the correct username and password.
-
Check the exam start time and confirm whether the test is available at that moment.
- Ensure you are using the correct exam portal link as different institutions may have separate logins.
- If the issue persists, contact your instructor or exam administrator to verify your exam access.
- If you are required to upload any working out for the test, please click the ‘next assessment’ button immediately after you have finished answering your questions. You have a pre-set amount of time allocated to upload your working. This time starts immediately after you have submitted your questions.
- Please remember that you need to combine all images of your working out into a single PDF file to upload.
In order to successfully upload the file:- The maximum file size must be less than 5MB
- The file must be saved as a pdf
- Additionally, the filename should be in the format: university ID number_module number of the test; e.g. 21xxxxx_ES2B1
- You will see this information on the upload page as a reminder
- To upload a file, click the browse button beside the first box.
- From the pop-up window, click ‘Choose file’ to select the file you want from your directories.
- To select the file, single-click the file and press ‘open’, or double-click the file to select it. Once you have selected the file, you will be able to see the file name in the box on the popup window. Please check if you have selected the correct file. If you have selected the wrong file, press cancel and select a new file using the same steps as before.
- Click the ‘submit’ button to confirm your choice.
- Once you have successfully submitted the file, the choose file and submit buttons will be greyed out. A new button will appear that allows you to close the popup window.
- When you are directed back to the main test window, the file you have uploaded will appear listed in the first upload section.
- Please leave the second upload box empty if you have already uploaded the correct file in the first box. If you have chosen the wrong file, please upload the correct file in the second box, repeating the same procedure.
- If you do not upload any files in the first box, you will be redirected back onto the upload page and you will not be able to submit the examination until you upload a file.
- To upload your selected files to the server, you must click the ‘Submit’ button on the right side of the screen within the upload time limit. If the submit button is not clicked, your files will not be saved, and your answers may not be considered for marking. Once you click submit, there will be a message pop up. Please click ‘Yes’ to confirm.
- The file upload may take a few moments to work. After a successful upload, a confirmation message will appear.
- If this does not happen, please send the file to the relevant person in your department within tthe permitted upload time period. If your submission is late, please send your mitigating circumstances application along with the file in order for it to be considered eligible for marking.
Lost Access After Refreshing the Page
Issue:
You accidentally refresh the exam page, and upon reloading, you are unable to regain access to your test session.
Possible Causes:
- Session timeout or automatic logout– Some exams have a timeout feature that logs you out after a period of inactivity.
- Loss of connection to the assessment server– If your internet connection drops while refreshing, the session may not resume properly.
- Exam settings restricting re-entry– Some assessments are set up to prevent students from re-entering once the exam starts.
Solution:
- Avoid refreshing the pageunless necessary, as it may log you out or disrupt your session.
- Ensure a stable internet connectionbefore starting your exam to prevent accidental disconnections.
- If re-entry is not allowed, immediately contact your invigilator or department support and explain the issue.
Your Page Has Expired or Session Timed Out Errors
Issue: You receive an error message stating that your session has expired or timed out while taking an exam on QMP (Questionmark Perception). This means the system has ended your session, preventing further interaction with the exam until you log in again or seek assistance.

Possible Causes:
Session Timeout Limit
- Many exam platforms, including QMP, have an automatic session timeout feature for security reasons.
- If a student remains inactive for a set period, the system logs them out to prevent unauthorised access.
Prolonged Inactivity
- If you do not interact with the exam page (such as selecting answers or navigating between questions) for an extended period, the system may assume you are no longer active and terminate your session
Internet Disconnection
- A weak or lost internet connection can disrupt communication between your device and the QMP server.
- If the connection drops and is not restored in time, the session may expire, requiring you to log in again.
Solutions:
Avoid Inactivity
- Keep interacting with the exam page periodically by scrolling, selecting answers, or moving between questions.
- Avoid leaving your exam unattended for long periods, as this may trigger automatic session expiration.
Save Answers Frequently
- QMP exams include an auto-save feature that automatically saves your answers as you progress.
Re-login Immediately
- If your session expires, try logging in again as soon as possible to resume your exam.
- If the system allows re-entry, continue from where you left off.
Seek Assistance if Necessary
- If you cannot regain access to your exam after a timeout, contact your department for assistance.
- Provide relevant details, such as the error message received, the time it occurred, and any troubleshooting steps you have already taken.
