Digital Learning Team

Meet the Digital Learning Team

The Digital Learning team comprises 4 functional areas - Educational Technology, Learning Design, Digital Learning Faculty Support, and the Management and Projects team - as well as cross-team working groups with a specific pedagogic focus and interest. We work alongside and consult with academics and departments to design courses and use multimedia and online learning tools to create educational experiences.

Please introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your role in the Digital Learning team

I'm Akshaya and I have been part of Warwick since 2021 although only joining the role of Educational Technologies Operations Coordinator about 2 years ago. In this role, I support students and staff on using Digital Tools and VLEs such as Moodle, EchoVideo, Vevox and Ally. I help develop guidance resources, and deliver training and one-to-one support to help people get the most out of the tools available to them.

How did you come to work in DL? Have you always worked in this area?

My background is in Behavioural and Economic Science, which I studied here at Warwick at a postgraduate level. After my MSc I moved into teaching as a Senior GTA, supporting students in Behavioural Economics and Macroeconomics, which gave me a real appreciation for how people learn and what helps them engage. I then saw the opportunity to join the Digital Learning team and it felt like a natural next step as it brought together my interest in how people learn with the growing world of educational technology.

Which digital learning tools do you like to use?

I work across quite a range of tools day-to-day but the one that I have found very useful both as a teaching and a professional staff, is Vevox. It's a live polling and Q&A platform that makes it so much easier to get genuine engagement from participants, whether that's in a lecture, a training session, or a staff workshop. What I like about it is that it gives people who might not naturally speak up, a low-pressure way to contribute, which ties into something I care about deeply: making learning more inclusive and accessible for everyone.

What’s your favourite part of working in Digital Learning, or at Warwick?

As a former Teacher, I appreciate that digital learning opens up education beyond the traditional classroom. It makes learning more flexible, more accessible, and more inclusive for people with different needs and different ways of engaging. I love the energy of the campus, the flexibility in my role, and the culture of continuous development here.
