What is the content placeholder?

When you edit surrounding content in pages based on certain templates, you see <content placeholder> in the content editor:

Content placeholder in editor

The content placeholder represents where the dynamic content appears in the page. The dynamic content depends on the page template in use – for example, news, a form or discussion forum.

You can add your own text and images before or after the content placeholder. We refer to this as ‘editing the surrounding content’.

Take care not to delete the placeholder. If you delete it by mistake, when you publish the page SiteBuilder adds the dynamic content beneath any other content in the page.
