Edit news feed in ID7 page layouts

This page covers how to edit the feed of news headlines in an ID7 page layout. The actual content of the news stories is maintained elsewhere in a department's site in a news page template.

  1. Go to your home page (or the page on your site where you wish to edit the news feed).
  2. Select the Edit content blocks button – typically at the top left of the blocks on your page layout. (If this button is not visible, contact the page owner for edit permissions):

Edit content blocks button highlighted on example home page

  3. Select the Edit button at the bottom right of the block containing the news feed:

Edit button highlighted at bottom right of content block

  4. You'll see the news feed code similar to the following:

    [sched-news num=2 showDates=false expandstories=all tags='news']/fac/arts/department/news/[/sched-news]

Edit the attributes in the [sched-news] tag to specify, for example, the number of stories to show, whether to show dates and to filter the feed of stories shown by tag. For a full list of these attributes see: How do I customise a news list?

If your source news page has moved, update the code above with the URL of the source news page. For example, to change the news feed to pull stories from IT Services news, you would use:

    [sched-news num=2 showDates=false expandstories=all tags='news']/services/its/newschanges[/sched-news]
  5. When you have finished editing your content, select the Save changes button.

  6. You're prompted to confirm the changes; SiteBuilder doesn't save history for content blocks and overwriting previous content cannot be undone. Select the Save button in the Overwrite permanently? window.
  7. Return to your home page (or the parent page above the content blocks) to see the updated news feed.
