Composite Processing
The Centre for Polymers and Composites (CPC) at Warwick Manufacturing Group provides expertise and equipment for both thermoset and thermoplastic composite manufacturing, including compression moulding, resin transfer moulding, and tape laying, supporting the design and scale-up of lightweight structural components.
Compression Moulding
Compression moulding is a manufacturing process where material is placed into a heated mould and pressed into shape under high pressure. It is used to form strong, often lightweight, durable components such as automotive or electronics casings.
CPC capabilities include:
- Engel v-Duo 1700t multifunctional press
- Large-scale 150t press with grippers & heating
- Laboratory presses 150t, 20t & 16t
- Zund CNC cutting table
- Vacuum forming
Composite Processing
Composite processing uses advanced moulding and surface treatment technologies to develop and produce fibre-reinforced (composite) materials.
CPC capabilities include:
- Schmidt & Heinzmann SMC compounding line
- Composites Integration RTM unit
- Vacuum infusion & fabric permeability tester
- X-winder tabletop filament winder
- Plasma & corona surface treater
