Mechanical Testing (Composite Materials)

The Centre for Polymers and Composites (CPC) at Warwick Manufacturing Group offers specialised mechanical testing capabilities for composite materials. This includes static, fatigue, and impact testing across a wide range of materials and structures, providing data to validate mechanical performance and durability.

Capabilities include:

  • Universal static test systems (5, 100 & 250 kN)
  • Servo-hydraulic dynamic test systems (25, 100 & 250 kN)
  • Instron VHS 160/100-20 (100 kN, 20 m/s)
  • Environmental test chambers & video extensometers
  • GOM Aramis 3D DIC system & FLIR HR thermal & HS cameras
  • Tensile, flexural, compression, shear, ILSS, DCB, CAI testing
  • High strain rate testing, fatigue, creep, pendulum impact
  • Instrumented impact drop towers (5-250 J, 12 kJ, 5 & 15 m/s)
  • Mistras acoustic emission & ultrasonic C-scan
