Heads of Department Message 19 May

All

Not sure whether you have seen this or not – it’s a message to existing students about the Shape Academic Year – build around the high level message that was shared with you last week.

A similar message has gone out to offer holders.

There will be a bit more on this in due course following the latest discussions around shape of the academic year and teaching delivery plans. We will need to provide further information – esp to offer holders - about what they might expect in terms of their learning experience. UGs will need to confirm their decisions to UCAS by June 18th and so we’ll need a further update in advance of that deadline. But I will send you more information on that as soon as I can.

Cheers

Chris

Professor Christine Ennew OBE

Dear Christine

It’s been a time like no other. Everyone’s been getting used to an uncertain world, as well as the fact that your experience at Warwick is now looking very different to how we had all intended it to be.

Recent months have presented some enormous challenges for our community – that’s why all of us here at Warwick appreciate your hard work, patience and understanding, particularly around the transition to online assessment and learning through the Warwick Online Learning Certificate.

We want to provide you with an update on our plans for the autumn term, and how we intend to deliver an outstanding campus-based learning experience.

We are planning to start our teaching as we intended, with classes expected to start in the week of October 5 following an induction programme for new students. For the next academic year, we will modify our teaching approach to reflect the changing circumstances we find ourselves in. We aim to welcome you back to campus, providing you with excellent face-to-face teaching that is integrated with online learning. The approach will see you further develop your digital capabilities, enabling you to flourish in your degree, and become more prepared for the complex, diverse environment you’ll encounter after graduation.

Your campus, your experience

Before the autumn term begins, we’ll ensure the facilities, services and surroundings you’re already familiar with are cleaned and maintained to the highest standard possible. Our comprehensive support network will continue to be there for you whenever it’s needed. We want you to know that, as soon as you return to study, we’ll be working hard to make you feel safe and reassured, whether you’re on or off campus.

Read more information on how the next academic year will look.

What’s next?

By the end of June 2020, your academic department will be in touch to give much more detail about the blend of learning that’s open to you. In the meantime, please stay safe and look after yourselves and your families. We look forward to welcoming you back into our community very soon.

With best wishes,

Chris Ennew, Provost
