Build your own Rube Goldberg machine!

banner detailThe Engagement Group of @warwickuni is running a series of events over the summer at various community events about Rube Goldberg Machines. A Rube Goldberg machine is a machine intentionally designed to perform a simple task in an indirect and overcomplicated fashion. Often, these machines consist of a series of simple devices that are linked together to produce a domino effect, in which each device triggers the next one, and the original goal is achieved only after many steps. banner details

Our #design of the banner is to be used as a backdrop to the stand and needs to appeal to children/ families. The stand will involve a demonstrative Rube Goldberg Machine the Engagement Group have made in advance, and will also have tables set up with kits of dominoes, marble runs etc. that children can use to have a go at building their own machine.

The goal is to teach kids about kinetic energy, and that engineers are problem solvers and it could be a potentially interesting career choice. We'll also be encouraging kids to draw how they think the machine should end on the last 3 panels.

From these designs they will pick a winner, make it and invite them back to launch the machine on the #familyday on Campus, Sunday 16 June 2019, 10am – 5pm.
