Lauren Jade Thompson
Welcome to my ePortfolio, where you can find out about my PhD thesis, "Postfeminist Masculinities: Representing Men in Television and Film", my other research interests and my teaching, volunteering, blogging and podcasting!
I am a final year PhD candidate in the Department of Film and Television Studies at the University of Warwick.
My current research into male makeover on film and television focuses on the represention of men's encounters with arenas previously gendered as feminine in film and television, exploring the issue of how masculinity is constructed in popular media in the postfeminist era. Other research interests include film and television comedy, gender and the media, and “teen” films and television. This work is being supervised by Dr. Rachel Moseley, and you can read more about it here.
I am a member of the Midlands Television Research Group.
I completed her undergraduate degree in Screen Studies at Liverpool John Moores University in 2008, before progressing to study an MA in Film and Television Studies at the University of Warwick.
I am a regular contributor to the PhD Life blog, and also produce researcher articles for the Wolfson Research Exchange.
I am the web editor and a contributor to the film review podcast Third Row Centre, and I write film criticism for Alternate Takes.
