About me

Born and raised in London, I joined the University of Warwick and moved to Leamington spa as a student in 2004 to study an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Chemistry, a course split between the Chemistry and Biology departments. My undergraduate covered the study of:

  • Organic chemistry
  • Inorganic chemistry
  • Polymer science
  • Spectroscopy
  • Electrochemistry
  • Bioinorganic chemistry
  • Surface and Interfacial chemistry
  • Molecular pharmacology

at the department of Chemistry. At the Department of Biology my course covered the study of:

  • Proteins, Genes and Genetics
  • Molecular Biology
  • Immunology
  • Enzymology
  • Protein Structure and Function
  • Neurobiology
  • Oncology
  • Vaccination and Gene Therapy
  • Infectious Diseases and Health

After the completion of my undergraduate degree in 2007, I enrolled onto a Masters course at the Department of Chemistry: Instrumental and Analytical Methods in Biological and Environmental Chemistry. Where i studied topics such as:

  • Principles and Techniques in Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis
  • Electrochemistry and Sensors
  • Cellular Systems and Biomolecules
  • Techniques for the Characterisation of Biomolecules
  • A wide range of analytical techniques such as NMR, Mass spectroscopy and chromatography.

It was during my masters I was able to gain insight into research within the physical sciences after completing a research project with the Warwick Electrochemistry and Interfaces Group under the supervision of Professor Julie Macpherson and Professor Pat Unwin. During my research project that was offered a PhD position to continue with my Masters research.
