Funding

The project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon2020 Research and Innovation Programme under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie International Training Network grant agreement nº642609.

The EUROLEISH-NET programme is dedicated to the training of 15 early-stage researchers based in different European countries. The aim of the is to provide them the tools to start and consolidate their careers in the field of infectious disease control and leishmaniasis in particular. The training programme will promote scientific excellence, multidisciplinarity, and autonomy to increase the employability of the researchers.

9 academic institutions, including the University of Warwick, and 27 partners, including Research Institutes and Private Enterprises, are involved in this programme.

In my project, the collaborators are IDRI (Infectious Disease Research Institute) and InBios International, Seattle, USA. They currently licence antigens to the Brazilian control program. Their involvement in this project should facilitate technology transfer to partners in Brazil and future impact of any diagnostic test developed.

All partners and researchers involved regularly meet for seminars and discussions about leishmania control, and also to follow progress of the PhD students.
