Hello and welcome to my e-portfolio!

I am a final year PhD student investigating the risk factors for lameness in sheep, and the diversity and distribution of the ten known serogroups of Dichelobacter nodosus, the causal agent of footrot in sheep. For more information on my research please click here.

As part of my PhD I spent a 3-month placement with the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), carrying out technology transfer to farmers. This involved disseminating results from recent research to farmers where it can be applied to improve both the welfare of their livestock and the profitability of their business. This was through a variety of formats, from face-to-face discussions with farmers at shows, presentations at conferences and writing reports of the latest footrot and lameness research for farmers.

Academic History

I graduated from Cardiff University in 2015 with a BSc in Zoology with a professional training year. I undertook my professional training year with the Bornean Banteng Programme (Danau Girang Field Centre) in Sabah, Malaysia, where I investigated the effects of logging management practices and climate on banteng body condition, an endangered wild bovid. For my final year project I traced agricultural runoff in the Wye catchment by measuring nitrogen and carbon stable isotope ratios in freshwater invertebrates at different trophic levels and over time.
