About

Maria Inês Castro e Silva holds a Bachelor's degree in Portuguese and Lusophone Studies (2009: University of Porto, Portugal) and a Master's in Cultural and Interart Studies - Major in Romance and Classical Studies - Literary Aesthetics (2011: University of Porto, Portugal). Maria Inês Castro e Silva is doing her PhD at University of Warwick, School of Modern Languages, Department of Hispanic Studies. Her research is focused on the Portuguese cinematic image as a representation of a cinematographic identity – Portugueseness (Portugalidade) - that it has been disseminated across the European panorama. Her project seeks to inscribe the work of the new generation of Portuguese filmmakers in a discourse that analyses their contributions to the discussion of post-imperial Portugal and the reconfiguration of the city.
