Background and research agenda
I hold a PhD degree in English Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics from the Department of Applied Linguistics, University of Warwick and work as Internationalisation Coordinator in Student Opportunity at the same university. My longitudinal qualitative PhD study, which was funded by the University of Warwick and supervised by Professor Ema Ushioda and Dr Troy McConachy, investigated Chinese learners’ multilingual learning motivation. My thesis argued for a humanistic approach towards language learning motivation and is titled ‘Being and becoming: An ecological exploration of humanistic motivation in multilingual learning among Japanese language majors in China’. My research agenda is related to language learning motivation and multilingualism.
