We are looking forward to you joining us on the 19th November for the Global Illuminations Procession - take a look below.
PLEASE BE AWARE: The route will contain strobing lights, lasers and haze. There will be a lot of loud music and noise along the route.
Please get in touch if this is a concern so we can advise which sections of the route to be aware of.
There will be filming and photography taking place throughout the event.
The procession will start from the Piazza before making its way 1.6km around campus.
We will start with an opening ceremony in the Piazza at 5pm before starting the route. Please be with us at 5pm.
We recommend wearing layers and bring a waterproof coat in case of rain. Comfortable (waterproof) walking shoes are also a must! Do double check the weather forecast to best prepare.
A little bit of rain won't stop us! Bring your waterproof and good shoes and come enjoy the lights.
If the weather is predicted to be a very heavy downpour, or high winds we will switch to our adverse weather plan which will be indoors from 5pm. Please be sure to register so you receive event updates.
Our usual food outlets will be open around the Piazza as well as some of the market food trucks.
The procession route is almost entirely level access - please do keep to the left of the procession traffic to ensure you can avoid the one set of 3 steps.
There will be lasers and strobing effects along the route - please bear that in mind if you have any light sensitivities.
Along the way there will be a lot of music and noise, if you are sensitive to sounds you might want to bring your headphones.
This event is free to attend, we would appreciate knowing you are likely to join us - sign up here.
We recommend parking at Cryfield Village, or Kirby Corner for easy access if you are not staying for the procession. If you plan to be with us all evening you might want to park closer at The Junction.
Our student societies have been working hard over the last year constructing amazing lantern props of all sizes, we will also have various performances around the route, and there will be a lot of glowing lights all around!
Yes, please be aware we will have some photography and filming taking place.
