Warwick alumnus and BBC Radio 2 presenter Simon Mayo spoke to the University's student radio station; 'RaW 1251AM' (formerly W963), about his time at the station and how learning his craft at Warwick led onto bigger and better things. To celebrate the 50^th anniversary of the University of Warwick, the Global Governance GRP invites all staff and students to take part in their artwork competition.

The Challenge: To create a visual representation of global governance. This can be a photo, cartoon, collage or any other artwork.

After some amazing investigative work by the British Council, the award winning 1984 film ‘Degrees of Excellence’ that featured international students studying at Warwick, has been located, and is now available on YouTube. Other universities to feature in the film include Edinburgh, Imperial, and Brighton Polytechnic. The film went on to win an Emmy at the 1984 International Film and TV Festival in New York.

'Warwick the Bear’ will travel around campus throughout 2015; each week of term he’ll stop off at a different location, student societies will get the opportunity to guess where the bear is and then learn more about the University campus. This project will tell the fifty year story of the University campus and provide an opportunity to engage with the University’s past.

The 50th anniversary provides an opportunity to look back and reflect over the past 50 years, Professor Robert Dyson, now an Emeritus Professor at the University has written his memoirs from his time working at the University of Warwick between 1970 and 1989. His memoirs give an insight into the development of the University and Warwick Business School in the 70's and 80's.

The New Year heralds the start of our 50th anniversary celebrations. From now until the end of 2015, we'll be celebrating our past and looking forward to the next half century.
