Shaping the Future of Creative Technologies

The University of Warwick has partnered with the Centre for Entertainment Arts (CEA) to launch a pioneering CreaTech collaboration. This initiative brings together Warwick’s innovation in immersive learning with CEA’s global expertise in digital entertainment education. The partnership will provide short, practical training programmes designed to meet the UK’s growing demand for creative technology talent. Courses begin in October 2025 at Fusion, a dedicated space on the Warwick campus designed for creativity, technology, and experimentation.
Building Skills for the Future
This marks CEA’s first UK University partnership, reinforcing Warwick’s role in industry-focused and future-facing learning. Over a two-year pilot, the collaboration will deliver high-impact courses covering 3D animation, AI, game development and visual effects. Designed for adult learners, aspiring creatives and professionals, the courses are taught by industry practitioners to provide fast-track upskilling. The programmes are also tailored to address national skills shortages and support growth in the UK’s digital industries.
Mick McLaughlin, Business Development Manager at Fusion, commented:
“Our new partnership with the CEA is a model of applied education that connects directly to creative industry needs. We are building a powerful innovation ecosystem where ideas turn into opportunities for students, start-ups and businesses alike.”
David Plumb, Chief Innovation Officer at the University of Warwick, added:
“This is more than a partnership: it’s an innovation alliance. We’re blending creativity, technology and industry expertise to shape a future where immersive entertainment drives new possibilities for learning, collaboration and economic growth.”
Industry and Innovation
The collaboration will also introduce industry events, workshops and thought-leadership forums to help shape the UK’s evolving CreaTech landscape. Diwakar Gandhi, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of CEA, highlighted the benefits:
“We’re thrilled to be combining CEA’s expertise with the University of Warwick to empower participants with industry-aligned, project-based learning and portfolio-ready experience. Together, we are enabling the next generation of creative technologists, ready to drive the future of immersive and entertainment industries.”
CEA is an officially recognised Unreal Authorised Training Centre, part of a select global network supported by Epic Games to deliver training in Unreal Engine, one of the world’s most advanced 3D creation platforms. Industry support underscores the initiative’s real-world relevance. Will Moore, CEO of Navigator Games, noted:
“As a studio powered by Unreal Engine, we see this partnership as a game-changer, creating a talent pipeline rooted in real-world skills and creative excellence. This initiative strengthens both the UK education system and the future of global entertainment.”
Programme Launch
The first course, 'Introduction to Unreal Engine', begins on 6 October 2025. The week-long, 20-hour hands-on programme costs £150 and covers editor training, asset integration, materials, lighting and Blueprint visual scripting.
