Professor Mark Williams is Leader of the Centre for imaging, Metrology, and Additive Technology (CiMAT) at WMG. His role involves the delivery of Metrology, Additive Manufacturing and Visualisation research projects across a wide range of industries. Prof Williams has managed a diverse portfolio of Research and Development projects totaling over £50M funded by EPSRC, AHRC, InnovateUK, HVM Catapult and EU within the Automotive, Aerospace, Healthcare, Defence and Law Enforcement sectors. These projects involved collaborating with a number of industrial partners and their supply chains; including Jaguar Land Rover, Nikon Metrology, Tata Motors, Morgan Advanced Materials, BAE Systems, Autodesk, and HoloVis. This research has led to the publication of over 200 academic papers published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences. The independently audited socio-economic impact of this research also includes 1500 jobs safeguarded, £20M process savings, and £7.5M of incremental R&D investment within the UK.
