Frequently asked questions
Do we need to be students or staff at the University of Warwick to hire the venue?
Absolutely not! While we are located on campus, the Esports Centre is open to everyone. We regularly host private businesses, external esports teams, community groups, and birthday parties. You do not need a university affiliation to book with us.
What kind of groups do you usually host?
We are a flexible venue capable of hosting a wide variety of events, including:
- Corporate Team Building: Unique, competitive, and collaborative gaming sessions.
- Esports Bootcamps: Professional training space for teams.
- STEM Workshops: Educational sessions using our high-end tech.
- Private Tournaments: Host your own league or friendly competition.
We want to do team building, but most of my team has never played video games. Is that okay?
That is perfectly fine! We provide expert staff and guides who stay with you throughout your event. They handle all the technical setup, teach you the controls, and explain the rules. We choose games that are easy to pick up, ensuring everyone from the "hardcore gamer" to the "total beginner" has a great time.
Do we need to know how to set up the computers?
No. Our on-site technicians handle all the hardware, software updates, and game lobbies. You just need to show up and sit down—we handle the rest.
What equipment is included in the hire?
You will have access to state-of-the-art competitive gaming stations. This typically includes:
- High-performance PCs (capable of running the latest titles at max settings).
- Pro-grade 240Hz monitors.
- Industry-standard peripherals (Headsets, keyboards, and mice).
- Console stations (PlayStation/Switch) & Racing simulators.
Can we bring our own peripherals?
Yes. If you are a competitive team or a serious gamer who prefers your own mouse and keyboard, you are welcome to plug and play.
Is the venue suitable for broadcasting or streaming?
Yes. We have broadcast capabilities and can support live streaming your event. Please let us know in advance if you require specific streaming production support.
Do you provide catering?
We are surrounded by various food outlets like Pret coffee, Dirty duck (a pub in campus).
Where exactly are you located and is there parking?
We are located in the Rootes building on the central University of Warwick campus. There is ample car parking available nearby for external guests. We can provide a map and parking instructions upon booking.
